Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), commonly referred to as “acid,” is a potent hallucinogenic drug that alters your thoughts and perceptions. It comes in several forms, but is most often sold in small squares of paper, also known as tabs or blotters.
The effects of LSD are unpredictable and depend on the amount taken, the user’s personality, mood, expectations, and the environment in which the drug is used. These effects usually begin within 30 to 90 minutes of ingestion and can last up to 12 hours. Here are some of the effects of LSD:
- Psychological Effects: Users often experience changes in mood, dilated pupils, increased heart rate and blood pressure, sweating, sleeplessness, dry mouth, and tremors. Sensations and feelings change much more dramatically than the physical signs. Users may feel several different emotions at once or swing rapidly from one emotion to another.
- Hallucinogenic Effects: The user might experience hallucinations, distorted visual perception of shapes and colors, altered sounds, anxiety, and depression. Some users report out-of-body experiences.
